Associate Professor, School of Architecture + Design

Elizabeth Grant is an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture + Design at Virginia Tech and serves as the Associate Director of the Center for High Performance Learning Environments.

Grant is a recipient of the National Roofing Foundation’s William C. Cullen Research Fellowship Award and her work has been published in the Journal of Architectural Engineering, the Journal of Green Building, Professional Roofing, and Interface. She has lectured extensively on the topic of vegetative roofing and was an invited presenter at a multi-city educational seminar offered by the National Roofing Contractors Association on the topic. With other architecture and engineering faculty, she holds two patents for a rooftop vent for reducing pressure under a membrane roof.

As an architect registered in Virginia and Florida, Grant’s design experience includes healthcare, civic, and educational work. Her ongoing research, teaching, and outreach interests focus on environmental design, the building envelope, and building systems integration.
